Volunteer at the Market

CCE Chemung Horticulture & Local Foods Program is seeking volunteers to read books to children. Reading will take place at EastSide Market being held Tuesdays, 3-6 pm at Brand Park in Elmira, NY from June 21 to September 27. Readers will come to market, meet the CCE market manager, be given a book and will invite families to join them for a reading at the Gazebo. Once the reading is completed, the reader may stay for additional readings. We will ask you to count how many people are in attendance for the reading. Once done the volunteer will return the book and count of audience members to the CCE market manager. Books will be about nature, agriculture, food, animals, or other related topics.

Each reading will be approximately 30 minutes in length. Reading times may vary (you could read anytime between 3:00 and 5:30 pm). As this volunteer position will interact with children, a background check is required. Our preference is to have volunteers sign up for more than one reading session.
