Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County will be hosting a workshop on learning the fundamentals of raising small livestock such as pigs and sheep. This workshop will be a fast paced all-inclusive presentation given at McRey Farm. Topics that will be covered include: breeds best suited for our climate, systems for raising and finishing the animals, and marketing. The afternoon will feature an on-farm hands-on component including a tour of the farm and discussion of their wholesale and farmers market operation. Priority for spots will be given to veterans in the Southern Tier, but others are welcome to attend as space permits. The cost to attend this workshop is $25, which includes all presenter materials and lunch. Travel stipends are available for veterans traveling further than one hour.
