Going Green

Household Hazardous Waste Event

Volunteer help is needed at the CCE office with pre-registration for this collection day. Volunteers will help educate the public while gathering information required for this popular event. Training is provided.

CHEUMUNG COUNTY POVERTY REDUCTION COALITION

With the new Poverty Stoplight program underway join community partners, agencies and individuals working with CCE of Chemung to empower those living with incomes below the poverty line to transition out of poverty. This will include assistance in preparing for the Poverty Stoplight program. Enrolled and Affiliated

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

CCE Educators provide afterschool education and learning activities for students in the Elmira City School District. If you’d like to accompany them to help, then we’d like to hear from you. Enrolled

Staying Health

A MATTER of BALANCE PROGRAM  (AMOB)

This researched-based program addresses the fear of falling and fall prevention. Eight two-hour classes are held at various sites throughout the county with a limit of 12 participants. Workbooks, videos, and light exercise are used. The classes are for anyone over 60. Volunteer Coaches go through eight hours of training and are asked to teach two classes each year. BONE BUILDERS (BB)

This osteoporosis prevention exercise program has been in Chemung County for 16+ years. Hand weights and a variable ankle weight used during slow fluid movements to help maintain bone mass. The program is designed for both women and men. If you are interested in participation as a Trainer,call 734-4453 Ext. 202 for more information. Training is provided. Enrolled
