4-H

Positive Youth Development

Welcome to 4-H in Chemung County!  4-H programs are offered in a wide variety of formats and places in order to meet the interests and needs of the diverse families who live in our rural and urban communities. Explore our pages and then give us a call - we welcome youth aged 5 to 19 and adult volunteers to our programs! 4-H has something for everyone!

Dear 4-H Families,

We would like to officially announce to you that we will slowly be reopening in-person programming to current CCE Chemung 4-H members.

In doing so, we must be diligent in our efforts to prevent any spread of virus and remain consistent with the efforts both state and nationally.

Also know that, things can change and we have watched them do so time and time again. So, in all realm of possibility, Covid-19 could spike and we need to go back to virtual meetings again at any time.

Attached please find a detailed letter of information that you should take time to read so that you can understand all options being made available!

In review, the following are the basic details of reopening club meetings:

  1. No club may meet without prior approval from Sasha Diederich, the 4-H Resource Educator.
  2. All members and their families participating in, in-person activities must sign a Covid-19 Waiver (see attached).
  3. Each club leader must attend an orientation to go over expectations, this can be done over the phone or via zoom.
  4. Meetings for ten 4-H members will be approved on a case by case basis, we will discuss anything over that number.
  5. NO public events will be approved. Only enrolled members and volunteers should participate in club activities.
  6. Physical distancing, sanitizing and masks will be required, without question.

Please know that though in-person programming is opening back up, you are not required to attend in-person activities and alternatives are also going to continue to be made available.

We ask that you assist us and our volunteers in adhering to rules, guidelines and to be patient with us all as we navigate the new normal.

Please contact me directly if you have any questions. We are still working somewhat remotely and from a variety of sites, please respond via email with a number and time I can reach you if needed. I will be happy to reach out to you.

Social Distancing: Making History, A 4-H Journaling Project

This project is well set for older youth who are interested in keeping record of what is going on around them during the COVID-19 global emergency. This project encourages reflection, creativity and writing.
