Welcome to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County!
Since 1912, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County (CCE Chemung) has responded to the needs of residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools, and education that people have come to depend on and trust. Our programs are developed in direct response to community input and are based on the most current information available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities nationwide.
Mission
The mission of Cooperative Extension is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work. Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. Our educators connect people with the information they need on 4-H, agriculture, nutrition, community and economic vitality, and natural resources. Our ability to match university resources with community needs helps us play a vital role in the lives of individuals, families, businesses, and communities throughout Chemung County.
Governance
CCE Chemung is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization and is part of the Cooperative Extension land grant system, a partnership between County, State, and Federal governments administered in New York State through Cornell University. Each county's Cooperative Extension association operates independently and works to serve the needs of the county in which it is located. CCE Chemung is a subordinate governmental university and not a part of Cornell University.
Volunteering
We welcome your ideas and involvement.
Volunteers help extend our mission of enabling people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that use experience and research knowledge. CCE Chemung provides high-quality training specific to each volunteer's educational role.
